EXPERT GUIDE · BUILD WITH SKILLSHIFTED
Give Your Course a Path to College Funding—with SkillShiftEd Doing the Work
Your expertise could reach learners who need help paying for training. We build the course and handle the work to seek approval through our college partner network.
For experts ready to turn their knowledge into a college program

You can have a valuable course idea and still lose a learner at one question: “How will I pay for it?” Approved student funding can help eligible learners take the next step.
SkillShiftEd helps you explore that opportunity without building the college route from scratch. We develop your program, prepare it for review and do the placement work through our college partner network. Funding fit is part of that conversation.
01 · YOUR COURSE, OUR WORK
You bring the expertise. We do the development and placement work.
You should not have to become a course designer and a college-placement team just to share what you know. SkillShiftEd brings that work together: shaping the learning, preparing the materials and working toward college approval.
- Build from what you knowBring your methods, examples and source material. We help turn them into a course people can learn from.
- Put the course forwardWe prepare the program and work through the partner-review process. You stay involved as the subject expert.
- Check the funding fitWe work with the responsible offices to establish which routes may apply to the exact offering. Confirmed options can then become part of the enrollment message.
We do the work to seek course approval. The college and aid offices make the decisions. Each course and each student must qualify. A college listing alone does not make a course eligible for aid. This page does not claim aid approval for a SkillShiftEd course. No funding or growth in enrollment is promised.
Our course-development process sets out the path. Your agreement defines the scope. The benefit is a team to handle the development and placement work while you focus on the expertise only you can bring.
02 · PELL GRANTS
Short workforce training has a Pell route worth checking.
Workforce Pell gives qualifying short-term training a route to federal grant support. The final rule was published in May 2026 and took effect on July 1, 2026. Schools could begin applying for program approval on that date.

That gives us a concrete question to work through with a prospective college partner: could your exact program fit an approved route? The checks cover length, state approval, operating history and performance. Schools apply through FSA Partner Connect.
A school’s aid status does not make all its courses eligible. A short duration, a noncredit label or a new catalog entry is not enough. The responsible office must confirm program approval and the learner’s next step.
03 · WORKFORCE AID
Workforce aid is another route we can explore.
WIOA—the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act—supports eligible workforce training. CareerOneStop points to state lists of eligible programs and local American Job Centers for questions about a learner’s eligibility.
- Match the courseCheck the exact program and provider on the relevant state list. Another approved course from the same provider does not establish this one’s status.
- Find the learner’s next stepIdentify the local adviser who assesses the person and authorizes assistance.
- Use the confirmed factsA listing can give people a route to investigate. It does not guarantee aid, referrals or enrollment.
You do not need to lead with a maze of rules in your course pitch. Once the route is confirmed, the message can be clear: here is the program, here is the help that may apply, and here is the office that can check your case.
04 · VA BENEFITS
Your course may fit the needs of veterans learning a new trade.
VA education benefits can cover qualifying training that does not lead to a college degree. If your expertise helps people build job skills, this is another route to examine as we prepare the college offering.
- Check the programUse VA’s official comparison resources and the school’s certifying official. State Approving Agencies have a role in program approval.
- Check the learnerProgram approval and the person’s benefit entitlement are separate. Delivery format and remaining benefits matter too.
A college relationship or a military-friendly label is not proof of approval. A verified program route gives you a useful fact to share with the audience it serves.
05 · YOUR NEXT STEP
Give learners a clear offer—and a real next step.
State support can also be worth checking. Virginia’s FastForward is one example of state-supported workforce training. It is not a nationwide benefit, and this example does not establish participation by a SkillShiftEd course.

We work to turn your knowledge into a college offering with an enrollment message grounded in confirmed facts. That includes checking the exact course, the funding source, the learner contact and the current rules before a funding claim goes live.
- Your roleShare your expertise and review the course for accuracy.
- Our roleHandle the agreed course-development and placement work, including funding-route questions.
- The college and aid offices’ roleMake the approval decisions and assess each learner’s eligibility.
Tell us what you teach and who it helps. We will talk through how SkillShiftEd can build the program, do the placement work and explore funding fit with the right partner.
Talk about your course06 · QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
A few practical questions.
What does SkillShiftEd do for me?
We help build your course and do the work to seek approval through our college partner network. We work with the right offices to check which funding routes may fit. You bring your skill, source material and expert review. The agreed scope sets out each part of the work.
Does a college listing mean my course gets aid?
No. The course and the student must both meet the rules. Credit, CEUs and a course certificate do not prove aid approval. We check the exact course and the rules for each route.
Can Pell grants help with a short course?
They can help with a short course that meets the rules and is approved. The student must qualify too. Workforce Pell took effect on July 1, 2026. A short course is not approved just because it is short.
Can I promote aid as soon as a college says yes?
No. First check the exact course, the aid route and what is approved. WIOA and VA each have their own checks. The student must pass their own checks too. Use claims the right office has confirmed.
Is this aid only for courses at colleges?
No. Some courses outside colleges qualify too. Some college courses do not. The value is in the exact course, its approval and the support a student can use.
